My first ever photoshoot was at Monsalvat House. The grounds were so beautiful and amazing :) It was such a wonderful day!
I really don’t feel ready for the photoshoot that I’ve signed up and paid money for. I know didily squat about hairdressing for it and I’m going to need to practise a shitload to be good enough for the makeup. I hope my teacher was right in saying that I’ll be ready. In the meantime sleepless nights and I are going to be pretty good buddies. My eyes hurt.
This week was my first week at school. It was pretty good. It’s been nice meeting new people. I’ve already learnt a lot which shows how fast paced the course will be. However I now have pretty much my whole kit set up, which is so exciting, and I can’t wait to start trying out everything! The church photo is the church I was sitting in front of when I was waiting for class to start on my first day.
We did absolutely nothing on Saturday. I woke up at 11 and plonked myself on the couch and read until I went to bed 12 hours later. It was such a good way to spend the day.
Yesterday we went shopping and when we got back our neighbours opposite us (our age and very Irish) invited us to their Gay Day Party. So we went on over and spent some hours with them which was really good.
I’ll be spending the day tomorrow with my aunt which will hopefully be good. Last week she was 4 hours late picking me up for our coffe date last week.
My mum came down this week, which has been so lovely. She came to our place and I got super house proud, and she totally approved. We went Op shopping and I found this huge stack of old videos. The videos more or less sum up my childhood, I was pretty happy. Then while we were out the front we came across this cool red old chair, which was sitting in the shade so mum had a seat and I got a happy snap cos it’ll be a while before I see her again. Then we came home and Brendan and I cooked curry for dinner.
Today I went to get a massage with my mum and my aunt. And it was fucking brutal. The pressure was too hard and whenever I asked him to go a bit lighter he kept reverting to the same pressure. I can’t move my left arm without pain because the muscles in the left side of my body are killing me. I can’t touch my left shoulder even lightly. I think it’s bruised. I will not be going back again. I have a feeling I will not be sleeping much tonight, so I’ll just keep watching Underworld until I pass out.
Brendan has tomorrow off work which is lovely because I start school on Friday and it will be nice to have a relaxing day before it begins. I am really keen to get to school and get started. I’m really, really looking forward to meeting new people and studying again. And doing something proactive for this course after it has caused so much stress and worry.
Hopefully this weekend we will be able to catch up with Brendan’s Aunt and Uncle. It’s nice being social, I’m really missing everyone back in Canberra (especially because the girls in the opposite apartment seem to always have people over).
I have so far only met 3 nice people. Everyone else I’ve met has been a total prick.
Melbourne has a lot of really distressing TV ads. Like for bushfires where the whole family dies. Or one describing a family break-up and break down for the Salvos. Seriously. I was almost in tears at the cinema last night when the Salvos ad came on.
It is so beautiful and vibrant here at night.
All the cats in this street seem to be totally friendly. There is a ginger one I patted today (photo’s to come) and a beautiful Persian one that tried to come into our apartment about 15 minutes ago.
There are no newsagencies! I’ve been trying to fine one for ages. Either there are none here or they go by a different store name.
The water here tastes slightly sweet, which is kind of weird.
So last night Brendan and I ordered Indian for dinner, and aside form how crappy it was, check out the description of the Bakra. Even though we didn’t order that everything was very spicy and not very tasty and full of bones. Disappointed. On the other end of the amusement spectrum is the second photo of the day. We ventured to the Queen Victoria Markets today and had a wonderful time. I saw these and thought they were hilarious. They are actually men’s knickers and to me it looks like a bird type thing with big black ears…? Not really 100% sure on that one. We also bought some fresh fruit and vegies, some meat and I got something for my Pa for his birthday which is soon. All in all a rather successful day.
Getting my new bike home was a bit of a struggle. I had the handle bars sticking into my ribs and Brendan had a peddle in his armpit, it was a long half hour drive back home. But it’s so lovely. I also got a shiny gold helmet :D
Seen on my travels today in the city and just down the street. I love this city.
